Using webcam
in my balcony observatory (Remote Control)
|
Practical use of web
camera for astrophotography requires to have
monitor near to observation place to allow to
find the observed object and do precise focusing.
The best way is to have notebook, but it is very
expensive. Because I don't belong to a category
of rich amateur astronomers I had to find another
way.
In the beginning I had to run from balcony to my
computer and back many times to do at least
approximate focusing. But my first images were
not very good just because of bad focusing. So I
decided to utilise my old monochrome (green)
monitor with 12" diagonal. My Matrox
graphics card allows to use composite video
output, so I connected my "green"
monitor to it. Monitor is directed to the window
in order to watch it from balcony. Furthermore I
can use my remote control for PC (about $15) to
control my K3CCDTools
program. |
