How to use ShoeString products with K3CCDTools

Various ShoeString products are supported by K3CCDTools 3 version.

A, ShoeString LXUSB Interface - controlling SC-modified cameras via USB

LXUSB Interface enables to control SC modified cameras and their commercial versions (SAC7, SAC7b, ATK-1C, ATK-2C, ATK-1HS, ATK-1HS II, ATK-2HS) via USB port, instead of parallel port. This is a very useful interface, because new notebooks usually don't have parallel port interface.

1, Download and install the ShoeString DLLs Pack for K3CCDTools 3. You must select either full installation or check LXUSB DLL installation.

This step will allow you to use the ShoestringLXUSB_DLL.dll also from another applications.

2, Now start K3CCDTools 3 and select the interface for controlling the SC modified camera:

Confirm the new settings by pressing the OK button. Then I recommend to restart K3CCDTools.
Now the LXUSB interface is ready for use with K3CCDTools.

B, ShoeString GPUSB Interface - controlling the ST-4 compatible guiding port via USB

GPUSB Interface enables to control ST-4 compatible mount via USB port, instead of parallel port. This is a very useful interface, because new notebooks usually don't have parallel port interface. You can use the GPUSB interface with K3CCDTools 3 for auto-guiding.

1, Download and install the ShoeString DLLs Pack for K3CCDTools 3. You must select either full installation or check GPUSB DLL installation.

This step will allow you to use the ShoestringGPUSB_DLL.dll also from another applications.

2, Now start K3CCDTools 3 and select the ST4 interface for guiding and GPUSB port:

The RJ12 connector on GPUSB device has the following pinout:

(C1) Open or sometimes powered (C2) Common (ground) (C3) RA+ (C4) Dec+ (C5) Dec- (C6) RA-

K3CCDTools 3 enables you to change the meaning of the C3-C6 pins. It can help you to avoid necessity of resoldering connector pins if your mount has a different pinout.

Confirm the new settings by pressing the OK button. Then I recommend to restart K3CCDTools.
Now the GPUSB interface is ready for use with K3CCDTools.

C, ShoeString DSUSB Interface - controlling DSLR cameras via USB

DSUSB Interface enables to control DSLR cameras (e.g. Canon EOS) via USB port, instead of parallel or serial port. This is a very useful interface, because new notebooks usually don't have parallel port interface.

1, Download and install the ShoeString DLLs Pack for K3CCDTools 3. You must select either full installation or check DSUSB DLL installation.

This step will allow you to use the ShoestringDSUSB_DLL.dll also from another applications.

2, Now start K3CCDTools 3 and select the interface for controlling the Digital Camera:

Confirm the new settings by pressing the OK button. Then I recommend to restart K3CCDTools.
Now the DSUSB interface is ready for use with K3CCDTools.
